Northland Motorsports/Precision Concepts Race Report Honey Lake

At the base of the mountains in the sierras, this is one of the most scenic stops in the series all year. Big elevation changes weren't the only track news. Rocks, rocks, and more rocks! With the atv race the previous weekend, the off road sections were already rough, beat, and did I mention rocks? embedded rocks that don't move would require careful navigation in several areas.

At the start, Jamie had a great jump and rounded the first corner in third. This only lasted 20 feet, as he was punted off the course by another rider. Taylor had a top 10 start, only to get caught up with other riders and go down. Robby had a terrible start, but at 3 turns in was the highest running team rider in 20th. The charge was on . All 3 riders began to move up quickly, until Robby got a front flat. This cost him over 3 minutes, and bumped him back to 25th. Taylor was on the move and by the mid way point was inside the top 10. Jamie was charging as well, but the 1st turn crash left him bruised and with a damaged bike.

With 30 minutes to go, Taylor moved into 5th, and was closing in on the battle for 3rd. Robby was climbing toward the top 10 with Jamie in tow.

As the riders headed out on the last lap, Taylor needed to make up 20 seconds to get to the podium. It was not to be as time ran out and he had to settle for 5th. Robby needed more time as well, and fell short of the top 10 by 30 seconds, Taking 11th just ahead of Jamie in 12th.

Once again we fell a little short of our expectations. The first turn is turning into a brawl. We need to get through it in tact. Our starts are improving, and all three riders put in lap times that would have them all in the top 5.

Races coming up are the MX nationals at Glen Helen and Sacramento where Taylor and Robby are racing. Also Jamie will be doing the ISDE qualifier at the end of May, looking for a spot on the junior team. The next Worcs race is June 14, 2009.

Thanks again for all your support. We continue to work hard to improve the team. We will sent out more pictures and posters as soon as we have them.
