Valli Motorsports THUNDERHILL RACEWAY PARK HARE SCRAMBLES
This past weekend had the Valli Motorsports team competing in round two of the Western Regional Cross Country series in two events over the weekend. A forty five minute "King of the Hill" event on Saturday and then a 2 1/2 hour hare scrambles over a 8 1/2 mile course consisting of a motocross track, rolling hills and long sweeping turns on Sunday morning.
Team riders Kyle Summers and Brian Garrahan competed in the Cross Country Promotions promoted event that had a phenomenal turnout as rain threatened all weekend but fortunately held off keeping the already soaken turf slippery yet dust free for a great race on Saturday with Sunday being even a little better. The weekend started with a 45 minute "King of the Hill'" race that is just an exhibition event. What an exhibition it was as we got to the track ten minutes before the race started and dashed to signup and had Kyle get dressed and then shuttled him to the start. Kyle and GNCC rider Josh Strang put on a race the entire time with Kyle coming out on top with one race to go the following morning.
The next morning was the start of the 2 1/2 hour hare scramble and Kyle started out mid pack and was leading after just about a mile and then slid out handing the lead to Josh. Kyle got going and passed Strang before the lap was over and pulled a decent lead every lap to finally win the event by 45 seconds. The team was trying a new motor setup and we all came away visibly impressed with not only the motor but our riders consistent lap times over the 15 laps. His fastest lap came in the last few laps which
shows his conditioning is really starting to pay dividends. Number one District 36 rider Brian Garrahan
finished out the day in sixth overall after a rather lackluster start but has a whole season to defend the
number one plate.
